Andrew Ackermann, BChD, MChD
Dr Ackermann completed the BChD degree at the University of Pretoria in 1984 with distinction, and was awarded academic colors and several merit awards. He completed the four year prosthodontic program in 1988 at the University of Pretoria, achieving the MChD degree with distinction, and was awarded the Dean’s Merit Certification for Post-Graduate Achievement. After completing military service as a dentist, Dr Ackermann entered specialist private practice in Sandton, Johannesburg, where he continues to perform surgery and prosthodontic restoration.
Francesco Amato, DMD, PhD
Dr. Amato completed his MD degree at the University of Catania, Italy, his Advanced Program for International Dentists, in Periodontics, and his continuing education program for implant dentistry, at New York University College of Dentistry. He also received his Ph.D. Biopharmaceutical Microbiology at the University of Catania, Italy.
Dr. Amato has published numerous articles in international journals and is a lecturer for national and international conferences and courses. He is a clinical professor for Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at the University International de Catalunya, Spain and a visiting professor for Periodontolgy at Columbia University, New York. He currently is in private practice, specializing in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry in Catania, Italy.
Dr. Izchak Barzilay, D.D.S., Cert. Prostho., M.S., F.R.C.D.
Dr. Barzilay received his DDS from the University of Toronto in 1983, a Certificate in Prosthodontics from the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY in 1986, and a MS from the University of Rochester in 1991. He is currently Head of the Division of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ont.; Adjunct Assistant Professor, Division of Prosthodontics of the Eastman Department of Dentistry, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY; Professor, George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology, Toronto, ON; Associate in Dentistry, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ont.; Chief Examiner in Prosthodontics – Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Dr. Barzilay is a publication reviewer for Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and is in private practice limited to prosthodontics and implant dentistry in Toronto, Ont.
Harold Baumgarten DMD
Dr. Baumgarten received his dental degree, as well as Certificates in Periodontal Prosthetics and Periodontics, from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Baumgarten is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry and The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. He is a Clinical Professor with the Department of Periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Baumgarten maintains a private practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Robert L. Blackwell, DDS
Dr. Blackwell received his dental degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the International College of Dentists, American Dental Education Association and the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Blackwell is Chair of the Department of Graduate Education, Interim Chair of the Department of Applied Dental Medicine and Director of Implant Dentistry at the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. He has lectured both nationally and internationally for over 25 years. Dr. Blackwell maintains a private restorative practice, with an emphasis on implant restoration
Josh Campbell, DDS
Dr. Campbell was trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. His training was hospital based and included extensive training in anesthesia. Prior to specialty training he graduated with a biology degree from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. His dental training was completed at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He enjoys giving back to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program in Knoxville through developing and teaching the implant curriculum. He also enjoys giving back to the dental field through his various publications.
Stephen Chu DMD, MSD, CDT
Dr. Chu, received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained his Master’s of Science degree in Restorative Dentistry and completed the Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics at the University of Washington, in Seattle. Dr. Chu subsequently became a board-certified dental technician in ceramics and obtained a Master’s degree in Dental Technology from the New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD). He is presently an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and is the Director of Aesthetic Education at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Chu has authored two textbooks and has contributed chapters to several others. Dr. Chu maintains a private practice, focusing on aesthetics and dental implants, in New York.
Robert del Castillo, DMD
Dr. del Castillo received his dental degree and his Certificate in Periodontics from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine. He is a former Adjunct Professor, Department of Periodontics at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine and a guest lecturer at Maryland University Dental School. Dr. del Castillo is also affiliated with the American Academy of Periodontology. He maintains a private practice, limited to periodontics with strong emphasis on implant and regenerative therapies, in Miami Lakes, Florida.
Douglas F. Dompkowski, DDS
Dr. Dompkowski received his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, at the University of Richmond, Richmond, VA. He then attended the Medical College of VA, with his Doctor of Dental Surgery. Upon graduation, he entered a three year residency in Periodontics at the Eastman Dental Center, in Rochester, NY. Dr. Dompkowski is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Southern Maryland Dental Association and the Academy of Osseointegration. He teaches at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and maintains a private practice, focusing on periodontology and implant dentistry, in the metro Washington area.
Carl Drago, DDS, MS
Dr. Drago received his dental degree from Ohio State University College of Dentistry and a Master’s Degree from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Drago is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow in the American College of Prosthodontists and the American College of Dentists. He is published and has written textbooks on dental implants. Dr. Drago currently serves as the Clinical Science section editor for the Journal of Prosthodontics. He is as Adjunct Associate Professor in Graduate Prosthodontics at Marquette University School of Dentistry. He maintains a private practice limited to fixed, removable, and implant prosthodontics in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
Stuart L. Graves, DDS, MS
Dr. Graves graduated from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry. He received his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Certification from George Town University where he also taught as an assistant professor for two years. He is past president of the Mid-Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr Graves is founder and president of the Implant Society of Northern Virginia. He has published several articles on advanced implant surgical techniques and lectures nationally and internationally on the subject. He maintains a busy private practice and is affiliated with ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers in Virginia and Maryland.
André Hattingh, BChD, MChD
Dr. Hattingh graduated with his B.Ch.D from the University of Pretoria in 1991 and continued his postgraduate training in Periodontology and Oral Medicine, at the same faculty in South Africa. He received his Masters degree with distinction. He participates in research related to wide diameter dental implants with Ghent University in Belgium and is chairman of the Tunbridge Wells Postgraduate Periodontal Group. He has presented lectures all over the world. He works full time in private practice as a periodontist in Sevenoaks, Kent, United Kingdom.
Dale Howes, DDS
Prof Dale Howes is Head of the Department of Oral Rehabilitation at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and in part time private prosthodontic practice at Morningside MediClinic. He is the current Vice President of the ISMR (International Society for Maxillofacial Rehabilitation), board member of the ICP (International College of Prosthodontists), invited fellow of the International Academy for Oral and Facial Rehabilitation (IAOFR) and serves on the North American working group for Advanced Digital Technology in Craniofacial Reconstruction. He has published research and book chapters in fields including head and neck cancer rehabilitation, occlusion and biomechanics. He has lectured all over the world.
Curtis E. Jansen, DDS
Dr. Jansen completed his dental degree as well as his Prosthodontic education at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry. Dr. Jansen is an Associate member of the American College of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Jansen accepted a full time teaching position at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and was later appointed as Director of Implant Dentistry in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Jansen has a full time practice limited to prosthetic dentistry in Monterey, California.
Steven J. LoCascio, DDS
Dr. LoCascio received his dental degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans and completed a General Practice Residency at the Medical Center of Louisiana, Charity Hospital. He returned to the School of Dentistry at Louisiana State University where he was awarded specialty certificates in Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial Prosthetics. Dr. LoCascio is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Louisiana State University, School of Dentistry, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. LoCascio maintains a private practice limited to prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Brian A. Mahler, DDS
Dr. Mahler graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. After graduation, he completed a one-year general practice residency at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, which included additional training in all aspects of dentistry. Dr. Mahler went on to complete a two-year specialty program at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he received his certificate in Fixed Prosthodontics. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on various topics involving dentistry. He is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and the Academy of Osseointegration. He maintains a private practice, limited to prosthodontics, in Fairfax, Virginia.
Alan M. Meltzer, DMD, MScD
Dr. Meltzer received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his Masters in Periodontics and Oral Medicine from Boston University, School of Graduate Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Meltzer is a Fellow of the Academy of Osseointegration, where he served on the Research and Education Committees. Dr. Meltzer maintains a private practice in Voorhees, New Jersey.
D. Douglas Miley, DMD, MSD
Dr. Miley received his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Southern Illinois University, School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL and his Masters in Science, Certificate of Periodontics from Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has served as Professor, Dept. of Applied Dental Medicine at Southern Illinois University, Professor, Director, Graduate Periodontics at Saint Louis University, Center for Advanced Dental Education. Professor and Director, Graduate Periodontics, Saint Louis University, Center for Advanced Dental Education. He has written book chapters on dentistry and lectured extensively. He currently is a Professor and Director, Graduate Periodontics, Saint Louis University, Center for Advanced Dental Education and a Professor and Director, Graduate Periodontics, at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine.
Gary A. Morris, DDS
Dr. Morris completed his undergraduate studies at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He received his dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed his residency in Prosthodontics at the UMKC College of Dentistry in Kansas City Missouri. He is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University, School of Dental Medicine. Prior to this appointment he was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry. He is a member of the ACP, AO, ADA, ISDS, CDS and is the immediate past president the Chicago Academy of Dental Research. Dr. Morris is vice president of the Illinois section of the ACP. Dr. Morris has lectured both nationally and internationally and has authored or co-authored numerous articles related to dental implants. Dr. Morris maintains a private practice, limited to prosthodontics and restorative dentistry, in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.
Pär-Olov Östman, DDS, PhD, MD
Dr. Ostman graduated from the University of Umeå Dental College, Umeå, Sweden. He received his doctorate in Oral Pathology and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Oral Pathology and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Umeå University, Sweden and his PhD and MD at the Department of Biomaterials, institute of Clinical Sciences, Sahlengrenska Academy of Gothenburg University, Sweden. Dr. Ostman is a visiting professor at Dental School University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences University of Ghent, Belgium, Dental School University Hospital, James Cook University, Townsville, Australia, and a member of the Biomaterial Group, Biomaterials, Institute of Clinical Sciences, Academy at Gothenburg University, Sweden. He is a published clinician and has been involved in dental research. Dr. Ostman maintains a private implant clinic in Falun, Sweden.
Richard Smith, DDS
Dr. Smith, received his dental degree from the New York University College of Dentistry as part of an accelerated seven-year B.A./D.D.S. combined degree program. After completing a general practice residency at Booth Memorial Medical Center, he earned a specialty certificate in prosthodontics from NYUCD’s Postgraduate Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics. He returned to NYUCD for an additional four years, obtaining a unique level of specialty training as a Fellow in the Postgraduate Implant Surgical Program. Dr. Smith is currently an Associate Clinical Professor at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in the Department of Prosthodontics, where he teaches postgraduate Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry. He has lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, and has had numerous articles published in the dental literature. He is in a private practice in New York.
Mark J. Steinberg DDS, MD, FACS
Dr. Steinberg completed his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo earning a BA degree. He then received his DDS degree from Northwestern University School of Dentistry, and later earned an MD degree from Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Prior to entering private practice Dr. Steinberg was a professor of surgery at the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. He was also the chief of the division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and program director of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at Loyola University Medical Center. He is a fellow of many professional societies and associations including the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and The American College of Surgeons. Dr. Steinberg has written many articles and text book chapters in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery literature. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on topics in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Steinberg maintains a private practice in Northbrook, IL.
Dennis Tarnow, DDS
Dr. Tarnow, a graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry, is a specialist in both periodontics and prosthodontics, and former chairman of the college’s Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. Presently, Director of Implant Education at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, Dr. Tarnow has written over 100 scientific papers and has co-authored or contributed chapters to several textbooks. Additionally, he is section editor of two dental journals and on the advisory boards of five others. Dr. Tarnow is the recipient of numerous awards for his many significant contributions to dentistry. He has received the Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology and in addition, he has been honored by being named New York University’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year. In recognition of Dr. Tarnow’s exceptional achievements and his dedication to the advancement of dentistry. Dr. Tarnow maintains a private practice in New York.
Michael Will, MD, DDS, FACS
Dr. Will received his bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College, his dental degree from Georgetown University and his medical degree from the University of Texas. He completed his General Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Will also completed a General Cosmetic Surgery fellowship at the Cosmetic Surgery Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He is retired from the U.S. Army with over twenty years of service as a maxillofacial and cosmetic surgeon. His final military assignment was spent as the Chairman, Residency Program Director and Consultant to the Surgeon General in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Dr. Will is a board certified Oral Surgeon, Cosmetic Surgeon, and Dental Anesthesiologist. He has authored numerous textbook chapters and scientific articles, and is a recognized national lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial and Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Will is on the medical staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, the Montgomery Surgery Center and Frederick Memorial Hospital. He maintains a private practice in Maryland.
William Wilson, Jr. DDS, MS
Dr. Wilson’s dental career started as an enlisted Dental Assistant and Dental Laboratory Technician in the US Navy. He was commissioned as a US Navy Dental Officer, and enrolled as a student at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry on a full scholarship offered to him from the Navy. He was awarded the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in Morgantown, WV. Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Wilson completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Parris Island, SC. He went on to earn a Masters of Science degree in Oral Biology from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., and completed a 3 year Prosthodontic residency as well as an additional one year fellowship in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the world reknowned Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD.
He has served as the Department Chairman and Program Director for Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, and also holds faculty appointments at the The George Washington University in Washington, DC as well as the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Wilson is a Board Certified Prosthodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He maintains a private practice in Virginia.
George M. Yellich, DDS, MS
Dr. George Yellich graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1968 and obtained his DDS from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1972. After serving two years as a general dentist in the US Navy, he entered the University of Michigan Medical School. He received a master’s degree and his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certificate in 1977, where he then was an instructor. His research work with the Center of Human Growth earned him an Award of Special Merit from the American Association of Orthodontic Research.
Dr. Yellich is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, for which he served as past president for the Northern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Yellich currently practices in Santa Cruz and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Yellich maintains a private practice, specializes in dental implants and corrective jaw surgery, in California.
