After graduating from University of Pittsburgh in 1979 with a Bachelor’s of Science (BS) Zola A. Makrauer entered Temple University School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 1983.
Dr. Makrauer’s professional career began in Northeast Philadelphia under the tutelage of Samuel Paul, DDS and Phillip Corn, DDS, two talented professionals who distinguished themselves in the field of restorative/reconstructive dentistry. The opportunity to train under the guidance of such renowned experts allowed Dr. Makrauer to hone his skills and quickly develop his own reputation for restorative/reconstructive work. After the retirement of the two principals (Dr. Paul in 1986 and Dr. Corn in 1991), Dr. Makrauer took over the practice, at that time he was involved in reconstructive dentistry closely working with Dr. Robert Levine and the Straumann implant system. He relocated the practice to the Rockledge area in 1992 and then again in 2002 to the Mason Mill Business Park in Huntingdon Valley where he practices today.
Dr. Makrauer has had extensive training in cosmetic/aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry and is certified in INVISALIGN® teeth straightening system. He has been published in the national peer review dental journal, The Compendium, and Starget, he is also a past adjunctive clinical faculty member of the Kornberg School of Dentistry.
Dr. Makrauer is a Straumann Faculty lecturer and a Fellow of the International team for Implantology. He has lectured nationally and internationally on the subject of dental implants as well as practice management.
In addition to his dental practice, Dr. Makrauer devotes his time to several professional and charitable organizations. He worked as the sponsorship/fundraising chairperson for A Woman’s Place, a non-profit organization serving abused women and children in Bucks County, PA.
Dr. Makrauer resides in Holland, PA, with his wife, He is an avid skier, golfer, and tennis enthusiast.
